Last Saturday Jay and I hosted a little get together at our place. I started tidying up Friday night, and Jay and I finished cleaning things up Saturday morning. Jay also did a lot of cooking and baking for the party! People started started showing up a little after six.
Good friends, good food, good times, and good booze was the order of the evening, despite a little mixed news. Proper Eric announced he had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, and had it recently confirmed by a lymph node biopsy. He said he's going to need radiation and chemo but his outlook is good, and he was even making jokes about losing his hair!
My friend Paul had been expressing interest in the capabilities of the XBox 360. I showed him and Proper Eric how easy it was to stream NetFlix instant moves to the 360. He also got to see the game quality when a bunch us played Scene It (which Jay had borrowed from his boss) towards the end of the evening. As it got late people started drifting away until it was just Jay and I left, so we cleaned stuff up and went to bed!

Day without Gays
Last Wednesday was "Day Without Gays" a symbolic nationwide protest where GLBT people take the day off work in protest against prop 8. Bill, Paul, Jay and I all took the day off and went up to the cities. We started by going to Ikea because Paul wanted to find a matching desk for one he already had. Paul and Bill both found some stuff that we dumped in Paul's vehicle before we all ran across the street to the Mall of America. We wandered around a little bit, stopped by the Apple store and Teevana because Paul was looking for gift ideas. We also had lunch at the California Cafe.
Next we headed to uptown because we were gonna see the movie Milk. Apparently the Uptown Theater is the only place in the area showing it. We had some time to kill before the movie started, so we headed over to Dunn Brothers for a little bit first. The movie was really good, and it's encouraging to see how things have changed since the 70's. I can't remember the last time the audience applauded at the end of a movie!
The drive home afterwords was filled with meaningfull discussions about the movie, and life in general.

Mixed News At Work
A couple guys at work recently announced they were quitting at the end of the year. I'm going to miss them because they're nice guys, and generally more clued in than some of the people I work with.
They're actually leaving so they can concentrate on their company Howling Moon Software. They've already got one game available for the Mac, iPhone, and iPod touch. It's an fun little 'pick up and play' type game called ScribBall. I'd recommend picking up a copy. It's only $10 and you'll be supporting an aspiring software company.
Best of luck to ya guys!
